Accessibility

A site about injury that excludes disabled users is self-refuting, so this one is built to WCAG 2.2 AA and the specifics are published rather than asserted.

ItemDetail
TargetWCAG 2.2 Level AA across every page, including the interactive tools and the maps.
KeyboardEvery interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator. The skip link is the first focusable element on every page.
ColourText meets AA contrast in both light and dark themes. Colour is never the only carrier of meaning — withheld values are hatched as well as coloured, and every chart is accompanied by a table or a caption carrying the same figures.
MotionThere are no autoplaying animations. Everything respects prefers-reduced-motion.
Charts and mapsEvery SVG carries a title and a description. Map tooltips are a convenience: every value shown in one also appears in a real table on the same page, so no information is mouse-only.
TextNo text is an image. The site uses system fonts, so it reflows and scales with your own settings and loads no font files.
ZoomUsable at 400% zoom and at 375 pixels wide with no horizontal scrolling.
Known gapsThe interactive tools have been keyboard-tested but not yet tested with every major screen reader in every browser combination. If something does not work, tell us and it will be fixed and logged.
